Yahoooooooooooo.....
Thank God, it has now finally come. We're but a a few more weeks away from the much awaited summer camp for this year. It took us nearly a year (the entire time after the previous camp) to come up with the activities and programs for the upcoming youth gathering. This is not going to be the first one (on our part...the youth leaders) but it sure is one of the most exciting that we're gonna have.
We've all been campers before we've all gone through the mind buggling, nerve wracking and spirit lifting sumer camp activities and it sure did played a great part on the person that we are today (hindi yung pagiging pasaway namin ha, kundi yung pagiging God fearing namen hehehe). We sure owe a lot to the older generation of youth members who have gone beyond their limitations in bringing us closer to our one true God. They sure have gone through the same efforts (as we are now going through) in coming up with the best activities so the attendees will enjoy the five-day summer camp; for the Christrian youth---to get closer to him and for the first timers---to know and accept God and realize that Christian living is not boring after all---that it is a life full of zest and peace knowing that a powerful and loving watches over us all.
Most of our youth leaders (that includes me of course) have been campers for years and with all that experience and training from our church elders plus the knowledge and guidance from our good Lord, we have been entrusted by other youth members and church leaders in leading future camps. We've had our "firsts" last year; first attending a camp without being a camper, first time conceptualizing / planning and arguing against one other on the kind of activities that we will have on the first camp that we take our part as leaders...slash facilitators...slash nannies...slash runners...slash motivators....slash dishwashers...slash peace keepers...slash ate's and kuya's...to which by the end of each day....we all come back to our humble selves.... realizing that after all, we are still the ones benefitting and learning from all the activities that we, ourselves, lined up for other youth, that we, although not first timers are still the ones learning from all lectures, scriptures and life stories of the younger attendees to whom we are trying our best to be "ate's and kuya's. "
By the end of the camp, I'm sure the others would agree with me, that we all realized how serious and darn important our responsibilities are. It sure came clear to us that being the ate's and kuya's of the camp doesn't pertain only in becoming the people responsible for the activities, speakers and putting everything together, but it is also our main obligation to lead this younger youth by the kind of lives each of us live...that our lives no matter how we look to it, still affect the outcome of the camp and how our campers become after they leave. It may not be too obvious, but surely, God looks on the motive and intention we have in all that we do and He will surely know us, to depths of our hearts and our thoughts and know exactly
